She'll join this year's programmer Nick O'Byrne

With BIGSOUND 2015's parties and preparation all set to kick off tonight, the hardworking team at QMusic are already looking ahead to their 2016 conference and have announced an addition to their programming team today — triple j presenter and co-owner of Fans Creative Management, Maggie Collins.

A veteran in the music industry with a wealth of knowledge, Collins will join BIGSOUND's executive producer Nick O'Byrne as a co-programmer — together, expect a 2016 conference that'll top even this year's keynote speakers of Peter Garrett, Brother Ali, Jessica Hopper and Marc Geiger.

Speaking to theMusic, Collins said she was excited about joining BIGSOUND because she believes the event is only going to get bigger as the years go by.

"I just think that it's going to keep on growing, and also reach into new international areas in terms of delegates coming over that we've always had a bit of a struggle with because of language barriers, basically," Collins said.

"I don't know whether I want to use the words 'little guys', because some of the time they're not actually 'little guys', but it is the launchpad for showcasing artists and that's the core principle of BIGSOUND, and that's what makes it so amazing, because there's no other festival that has something like that."
