Thundamentals Donate $20K To Asylum Seeker Centre Charity

No strangers to speaking up about issues to do with asylum seekers and ignorance of issues in Australia, Blue Mountains hip hop group Thundamentals have just launched the Got Love Initiative, donating $20,000 to the Asylum Seeker Centre to kick off their goodwill. 

Inspired by the song Got Love, Tuka explains of the donation, "It got to a point where we felt that simply going out and asking people to 'take your fist and make a peace sign with it' was becoming a bit trivial for us. We wanted to help in a more tangible way.

"By incentivising our fans to donate to a cause by buying a piece of specific merch we felt this might become a talking point for people to discuss the issue amongst their friends and hopefully raise more awareness."

The band raised $20,099.26 on their Elephant In The Room tour this year, all by selling a specifically designed t-shirt for the initiative online and on the tour. 100% of the profits headed straight to the Newtown, Sydney charity.

Thundas will continue to work with charities through the Got Love Initiative, raising awareness and funds for causes that the quartet believe in.
