Rob Thomas talks plans.

More Matchbox Twenty More Matchbox Twenty

Next year will mark the 20th anniversary since the release of US rock band Matchbox Twenty's debut album, Yourself Or Someone Like You and according to frontman Rob Thomas, the boys plan on hitting the road for some shows to celebrate, which would include a trip to Australia.

Speaking to News Corp, the 43-year-old singer said the Florida-founded outfit already have big plans to coincide with the milestone, while also giving a pretty darn candid assessment on the band's first record.

"We're going to reissue the record — we'd like to remix it because we just don't like the way it sounds," Thomas said of the acclaimed 1996 album.

"We'd love to do a couple of shows playing it all the way through because there's some songs on there we haven’t played in 15 years."

Thomas, who is currently promoting his third solo album, The Great Unknown, admitted that the problem right now is getting the entire gang back together due to their hectic schedules.

"It's very much in our mind, we’re just trying to figure out the best way to handle it," he said.

"I fucked it up for everybody by doing this solo record!"

And while the band haven't toured together in some time, Thomas revealed that they hope to head Australia sooner than many would expect.

"We're planning on coming over at the beginning of next year, because I’d love to play those vineyards."

The Great Unknown is available from tomorrow via Warner.
