Today we learnt...
Seattle-bred indie-rock kings Death Cab For Cutie have confirmed their Facebook page was hacked earlier this afternoon (AEST) following a series of graphic posts made to their Wall ostensibly by their official account caused considerable confusion and amusement among their fans.
Although the posts are now deleted, with the band apologising for the errant posts and stressing that their page "is now secure and fans will not be subjected to these kind of posts in the future".
DCfC's Facebook was hacked this evening and explicit content was posted to the page. The account is now secure and fans will not be subjected to these kind of posts in the future. Our sincere apologies.

Thankfully, though, this being the internet and all, quick-thinking users were sure to grab some screenshots of the (apparently only two) unauthorised posts, which reveal nothing about their origin except the maker's apparent preoccupation with sex and butts. Most tweets use the same screenshots, so in the interest of brevity:

As you do.
The hack took place sometime between this morning and noon, with bassist Nick Harmer first confirming that the band's page had been compromised via Twitter:
Uh yeah. The Death Cab for Cutie Facebook page has definitely been hacked. We'll get back to our regularly scheduled program soon.

Oddly, Death Cab aren't the only musicians to have seen their Facebook page hacked in the past 24 hours - songstress Imogen Heap suffered an attack overnight involving several "out of character" posts, while Twitter indicates that DCFC frontman Ben Gibbard's Postal Service side-project was also targeted.
Hello everyone… a bunch of rather 'out of character’ posts were being posted from my Facebook account the last couple of...
