The next installation of the popular sporting franchise is released internationally on 25 August
Blue Mountains-bred electronic outfit Hermitude will have the rare honour of seeing their name in Friday-night lights when they're featured on the soundtrack for the next installation of Electronic Arts' popular sporting franchise Madden NFL, releasing later this month.
The local legends' inclusion on the 30-track-strong list — which also features the likes of A Thousand Horses, Robert DeLong, Twenty One Pilots, The Weeknd and more — is a doubly special affair, as this is actually the first 'EA Trax' playlist (basically a group of songs by established and ascendant artists that provides the backing sounds for the game's menus) to appear in three years, having been replaced by purpose-made instrumental tracks in recent editions. Not only that, but Hermitude are the only Aussie outfit to make the cut - for their recent cut Through The Roof, featuring Young Tapz - flanked by a considerable number of Brits and, naturally, Americans across the rest of the playlist.
The last Aussie artist to get a run as part of an EA Trax playlist was AC/DC, with Thunderstruck, back in Madden NFL 2011. Prior to that, the games hadn't featured an Australian act since Madden NFL 2007, when Wolfmother's Woman made the list. The first-ever Aussies to get included were Jet, who featured on the second-ever EA Trax list in Madden NFL 2004 with Are You Gonna Be My Girl?.
