The fledgling venue and creative hub will bounce back from hiatus next month
Nascent live music venue and collaborative creative hub The Foundry will make its long-awaited return to Brisbane's Fortitude Valley next month - along with a "major addition" that is yet to be revealed - after it was unexpectedly forced into hiatus within weeks of opening back in March.
However, the bad times are (hopefully) behind them and The Foundry is ready to reopen its doors with a massive relaunch party on Thursday, 20 August. There will only be 100 tickets made available to the general public, which are on sale as of right the hell now so, if you want to secure your spot, you'll have to get cracking.
The line-up for the evening is yet to be announced, but with building residents including labels, management, media, artists, events, and even a 'rock'n'roll accountant', you can be sure the requisite contacts exist to ensure that it's a night for everyone to remember. The last launch definitely was, at any rate.
Beyond its capacity as a space to see live music, you may remember, The Foundry also runs a trade in encouraging and incubating the local industry. As the collab wrote in a statement:

"What sets The Foundry apart is its potential to unite the local industry as one giant powerhouse. What was previously an empty, ageing backpackers on the third floor has now been converted into a personalised, distinctly Brisbane space that serves the vibrant music and creative community like no other currently available in Australia. Supporting Brisbane's creative community takes precedence over profits with tentants paying rent for a music industry sized budget, provided with free-wifi and the freedom to deck out the studios as they please."
In addition, the statement explains, "Fresh street art now dons the hallways that lead to three shared meeting rooms, two rehearsal rooms, one recording studio and plenty of offices that are poised to be the central heartbeat for Brisbane's newest music and entertainment precinct. Plus, there's a dedicated room where up to eight touring band members can crash for the night for a pittence."
Other perks for bands include the sizeable capacity (300 all up) and free backline, while the beer garden and food (courtesy of the kitchen at neighbouring Greaser) should help to keep the punters pleased.
Finally, there's that "major addition" we were talking about - so far, the venue is keeping tight-lipped about the mystery, but have explained it as "another offshoot of The Foundry brand". Stay tuned for future updates.
