More Grimes More Grimes

Canadian electro musician Grimes has made some harrowing claims in a recent interview, alleging that she has received death and rape threats throughout her career.

Speaking to Fader, Grimes, real name Claire Boucher said: "I get threats constantly - all female musicians do."

"People want to, like, rape and kill you. It's, like, part of the job."

The 27-year-old producer, claims there was an incident in the past in which she was approached by a "random guy" in her dressing room at a live show.

"He just grabbed me and started making out with me, and I was like, 'Ah!' and pushed him off. Then he went, 'Ha! I kiss raped you' and left."

"Shit like that happens quasi-frequently."

Grimes went on to express her frustrations of being a female artist in the music industry today.

"I wasn't raised as a boy, but I was not just raised as a girl. I don’t wanna say I don't identify as a girl, but I don't fucking give a shit about gender," Grimes said.

"And the thing that I hate about the music industry is all of a sudden it’s like, ‘Grimes is a female musician’ and ‘Grimes has a girly voice.’ It’s like, yeah, but I'm a producer and I spend all day looking at fucking graphs and EQs and doing really technical work."
