Claims of late appearances and short sets.

More Ashanti More Ashanti

R&B stars Ja Rule and Ashanti have been making their way through Australia for a joint-headline tour in the past week, but it seems not all Aussie fans have been pleased with their performances.

The US acts performed two shows in Sydney on Sunday night, firstly at Enmore Theatre, followed by a later show at Max Watt's (at which The Music was in attendance) and fans have today expressed their disappointment through Facebook posts and are asking for refunds.

Concert-goers have targeted the second show at Max Watts in particular as some have alleged that Ja Rule and Ashanti, who were scheduled to hit the stage at 11:30pm, three hours after doors opened, did not come on until 12:30am and only performed for half an hour.

Those in attendance also claim that a fan threw a water bottle in anger as Ashanti left the stage.

One fan wrote on the event Facebook page: "waited an hour for them to come on stage and then get a 20min show when they were suppose to be on for an hour and a half!!" while another said, "I give ten points to the person who threw the bottle at Ashanti as she walked off stage talking some bullshit about how much she loved her fans."

Ja Rule appears to have acknowledged fans' anger on Twitter today, apologising for what he calls "a bad situation". Read the full tweets below.

Meanwhile, just last week Victorian fans were left seething from a show at Geelong's The Pier, after punters claimed that the acts were again late to hit the stage.

Speaking to the Geelong Advertiser, EMC Group Geelong director Darren Holroyd who manages the Pier, said that the venue "copped attitude all night" from the artists and management.

"They were meant to come on at 9.30pm but we just copped attitude all night unfortunately — they were doing what they wanted and beyond our control, I was as disappointed as the crowd," Holroyd  said.

"(The crowd) were there nice and early in a good frame of mind but Ja Rule and Ashanti had gone back to the Novotel and didn’t come back until probably 10.15pm."

TheMusic have contacted the tour promoters and venue management for comment.
