Things just keep getting bigger and better for WA psychedelic rockers Tame Impala, as their new album debuts at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart.

Earlier today we reported the Splendour In The Grass headline act left their mark on the UK charts with Currents, and its now their highest ranking album in Australia, overtaking their previous two (Innerspeaker and Lonerism), which both peaked at #4.

The new album knocked Aussie legends John Farnham and Olivia Newton-John from first place, with the duo’s live record Two Strong Hearts being bumped back to #6. Farnham being one of several Aussie icons that come forward and requested rally group Reclaim Australia not use his music for their cause during the week.

British electronic duo The Chemical Brothers’ eighth album, Born In The Echoes debuted at #5 while the Magic Mike XXL soundtrack landed at #10.

Two other Splendour guests also made impressive debuts: Ms Mr’s How Does It Feel landed a place at #12, and Brisbane’s Art Of Sleeping swooped into the charts with Shake Shiver (#27).

Other new entries included: Magnifique by Ratatat at #29; Something More Than Free by Jason Isbell at #32; Tough Love by Jesse Ware at #36; Tunnel At The End Of The Light by Tex Perkins & Dark Horses at #52.

Over on the Singles Chart, Aussie pop rockers 5 Seconds Of Summer debuted at #6 with their new song, She’s Kinda Hot, which is unsurprisingly doing well overseas too, landing in the UK Singles Chart top 20.

Perth singer Samantha Jade also debuted with her Pitbull collab Shake (#32) and we saw UK DJ Calvin Harris enter with How Deep Is Your Love #8.
