The Stones can't get no satisfaction...

More The Rolling Stones More The Rolling Stones

You can wear the Rolling Stones' lips-and-tongue logo on a t-shirt, but as soon as it's on some underwear… you're in trouble.

The rock stars' fluro advertisements, promoting their Exhibitionism work in London's Saatchi Gallery, has been pulled off the London public transport system for its strategically placed lips-and-tongue logo on a close-up of a woman's undercarriage, for being "too risqué" for London commuters.

According to Adweek, Matthew Walker of Clear Channel UK, an agency that determines which advertising material make their way onto London's bus stops, said, "We felt the original artwork was a little bit too risqué … We're well aware our advertising sites are hard to miss, so we need to make sure the advertising we carry is appropriate."

Clear Channel UK and Exterion Media, an agency that looks after advertisements on the London underground, then suggested the Gallery could revise the artwork by "shifting the mouth slightly further up the body", covering the pictured woman's navel instead.

In a statement to CNBC, the Stones' management said, "We are dumbfounded and perplexed at this rather silly decision. Perhaps something to do with the fact that it's the Rolling Stones and controversy still seems to follow them everywhere."

Despite the modified artwork making its way onto London's public transport system, the original poster has already been emblazoned onto the Saatchi Gallery's website, the Rolling Stones' website and across social media.
