More Allday More Allday

Nascent Australian hip hop heavyweight Allday has yet another accomplishment to add to his prodigious pile, becoming the newest signing to esteemed US label Wind-up Records in a global deal (excluding Australia and New Zealand).

The rapper, real name Tom Gaynor, broke the news on his Facebook page last night, posting a selfie from his roof while "having a moment" in the wake of signing the deal.

"Pretty sure no Australian rappers (besides Iggy) have had this opportunity before," Allday wrote.

"I could make this status about how much hard work it's been but really, as always, I owe it all to you guys who support me. I feel blessed to make music for all of us to grow up/grow old to."

Wind-up Records is one of the world's largest independently owned music companies, and the new deal sees Allday join an existing roster of acts that includes fellow Aussies Strange Talk and The Griswolds as well as international musos Aranda, Civil Twilight, Crobot, Five For Fighting, Genevieve and more.

With a previous cabal to their name that has included a broad array of acts, from Bayside, Boysetsfire and Cartel to Drowning Pool, Evanescence, Hawthorne Heights and Seether - not to mention a whole bunch in-between - it's understandable that Allday, and those in his camp, are pretty chuffed about the signing with Wind-up.

"They're a fantastic, artist-focused label who have sold 60 million records, and they're really passionate about translating Allday's Australian success to the rest of the globe," Allday's manager, Jim McKinnon, said in a statement to The Music. "There's a lot of hard work ahead, no question about that, but we're thrilled to have Wind-up on our team."

Allday remains signed in Australia to his existing label, ONETWO, a collaborative company created by Illy and UNFD. In extra-celebration of the new deal with Wind-up, you can feast your ears on a brand new track from Allday's forthcoming free mixtape. This one's titled Grammy, and it's all yours to enjoy below.

Allday recently completed his sold-out "I Should Be Working On My Album But I'm Doing A Tour" national tour, so one would imagine, with a dearth of distractions now, the rhymesmith will be pretty fastidiously hammering away at his next full-length for a little while.
