Melbourne Film Fest To Screen 26 Features From Cannes

Including SFF winner, Arabian Nights.

The Melbourne International Film Festival has today announced 26 new features to screen at the 64th event this July and August, including the Sydney Film Fest's award-winning movie, Arabian Nights.

The three-part film directed by Miguel Gomes which critiques modern-day Portugal, took out the top gong at the recently wrapped festival winning the Sydney Film Prize and a $62,000 cash prize. 

Also set to feature at the MIFF includes dark-comedy UK film The Lobster which boasts an all-star cast including Colin Farrell, John C Reilly and Rachel Weisz.

US drama-comedy Dope has also been announced on the latest bill, which stars rapper A$AP Rocky and is narrated by Forest Whitaker.

The film which centres on a self-confessed geek living in one of LA's roughest neighbourhoods, received six offers from film studios after its screening at Sundance earlier this year.

The remaining newly announced films include The Assassin, Chronic, Land And Shade, Journey To The Shore, The Treasure, Love, Our Little Sister, Don't Tell Me The Boy Was Mad, Mountains May Depart, Louder Than Bombs, An, Cemetery Of Splendour, One Floor Below, The Chosen Ones, The High Sun, Mustang, In The Shadow Of Women, Yakuza Apocalypse: The Great War Of The UnderWorld, My Golden Days, A Perfect Day, Krisha, Coin Locker Girl, Meditarranea, Waves '98 and Share.

The 64th annual Melbourne International Film Festival will be held from 30 July-16 August, with the full program launch coming on 8 July — check out the full first announcement here
