An multi-guitarist improv performance that'll never be seen again

If you have a craving to see musical minds at work when they're put right on the spot, GUITARELAY might be your calling.

GUITARELAY is a special multi-guitarist improvisation performance that was heralded at Melbourne Fringe Festival's Closing Night from 2009-2011. In a one-off, one-night-only experience, the dynamic audio-visual experience will be held at Closing Night of this year's Leaps & Bounds Festival on Sunday, 19 July instead.

With a slew of guitarists chosen from every state, including Kim Myers of Fur, the performance calls for the guitarists to improvise their responses and interactions with each other aurally. While this goes on, improvised visuals to mark the music will be created by UK video artist Paul Rodgers, a video art pioneer who has work in a permanent collection in the Tate Gallery in London.

The performance will be impossible to replicate and undeniably fleeting — the perfect end to what will be a similarly stunning Leaps & Bounds Festival.
