It's official.

Tech-giants Apple have today announced at the annual Worldwide Developers Conference that they will be launching their newest music streaming service, Apple Music, this month.

The new service, set to launch on Jun 30, will see Apple go up against big name music streaming companies such as Spotify and Rdio, as it looks to become to take over the market, which it currently sits on top of for digital sales.

Apple Music will allow users to stream songs from iTunes on demand, listen to curated playlists and it will see the Siri feature incorporated into the service, giving users the option to simply ask for a song to be played at any time.

A live DJ service entitled 'Beats 1' has also been announced, which will see producers perform live sets in stations in New York, LA and London.

The program will be hosted by popular radio jock, Zane Lowe and it will mark Apple's first 24 hour worldwide radio station, with programs created for different genres of music and as an added bonus, it will see users be able to skip songs as they choose.

Speaking in a press release, Eddy Cue, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services said: “We love music, and the new Apple Music service puts an incredible experience at every fan’s fingertips."

“All the ways people love enjoying music come together in one app — a revolutionary streaming service, live worldwide radio and an exciting way for fans to connect with artists.”

Apple Music will cost users $9.99 a month after an initial three-month trial free of charge.
