The Modular saga continues

The Australian today has reported that troubled Modular Recordings label founder Steve Pavlovic (Pav) has been accused of 'ripping off' one of his roster's advance payments.

Business reporters Ben Butler and Christine Lacey — who first reported the Modular founder's court woes yesterday, today report Universal Music Australia (UMA) allege Pav "wrongfully retained for his own benefit" money that a Modular artist gave him as an advance repayment.

The dramatic allegation is part of a NSW Supreme Court proceeding that UMA are pursuing against former business partner Pav.

The artist has not been identified. The Modular stable once boasted a high profile roster of artists including Tame Impala, Wolfmother, The Presets, Ladyhawke, Cut Copy, Robyn and Muscles.

The latest revelation follows yesterday's news that BMG are suing Pav in a US court for unpaid royalties to Tame Impala and UMA releasing a statement that wrongfully named as defendants in the lawsuit.

UMA yesterday wouldn't comment on NSW Supreme Court action.
