Tracy Morgan Reveals He Watched Fatal Car Crash On YouTube Everyday

Almost exactly one year ago, actor and comedian Tracy Morgan was involved in a horrific car accident that killed his long time friend and collaborator and left him with severe brain trauma, a broken leg and several broken ribs. 

And speaking in his first interview since the tragic accident on the US Today Show, an emotional Morgan told host Matt Lauer that he was lucky to be alive: "I cant believe I’m here. I cant believe I’m in front of you."

The 46-year-old said that the last year had been very tough, but he was supported by his family and friends, including fellow Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock alumni, Tina Fey.

"The case is settled but the pain is always going to be there for Jimmy Mack," he said of his late friend James McNair, whose family agreed to a $10 million dollar settlement in March.

"He was a close friend of mine, a comrade in comedy, he was a loving man and he was a warm man – he was a good man. It just hurts me to see that he’s gone," Morgan said. 

Morgan revealed that he recalls nothing from the crash itself and only remembers coming out of a two-week coma to learn the news that McNair had passed away in the accident.

He recalled his last memory of McNair: "Jimmy wrote a joke for me…We went there and we did the show and I did the joke and everybody got applause breaks. And I look to the side and I see Jimmy standing there laughing and that was the last time I seen him alive."

"Every day I would just watch the accident on YouTube and one day I came across his funeral…and I just lost it for about a week," adding that he would watch the crash on repeat to find out what happened and to also pay his respects to McNair. 

"Bones heal but the loss of my friend will never heal," Morgan said through tears. 

When asked if he would ever return to comedy, Morgan expressed his desire to do so, though his first goal is to fully recover. 

"I love comedy and I cant wait to get back to it, but right now my goal is just to heal and get better, because I'm not 100% yet."

"And when I’m there, you’ll know it, I’ll get back to making you laugh, I promise you."

Meanwhile, it has also been revealed that CEO of Walmart, Doug Mcmillon has reached out to Morgan to meet with him and personally apologise for the accident this week, as it was his company's truck that caused the incident.
