At last night's annual rugby league State Of Origin match, legendary Aussie act Cold Chisel announced before the match that they will be embarking on a national tour this October.

Kicking off the One Night Stand shows with a full headline set at the 2015 Deni Ute Muster on October 2, the band will also perform a mini-concert at the NRL Grand Final on the same weekend.

They will headline the V8 Supercars Castrol Gold Coast 600 and the Decades Festival in Strathpine, and will also be the first Australian act to headline the Hanging Rock in Victoria, as well as Hope Estate in New South Wales' Hunter Valley — it has also been confirmed that fellow Aussie band The Living End will join them at these shows, excluding the V8 festival.

Cold Chisel will then move on to perform solo arena shows throughout the country.

Frontman Jimmy Barnes revealed that the band felt compelled to do a national tour after the overwhelming response they received with the announcement of their Last Stand of Sydney's Entertainment Centre shows this December.

"In March we played a homecoming show in Adelaide to 35,000 people," the 59-year-old singer said.

"Then when we announced these two shows in Sydney the reaction was ballistic. The demand blew our minds, suggesting that it was time for us to get back out there."

Members of Cold Chisel's mailing list will get first access to the best tickets for all One Night Stand shows and they will be able to buy a maximum of six tickets from 10am-10pm on Monday, June 1 using a special password that will be emailed to them on Sunday, May 31.

Further tickets will be offered to Ticketek members from 10am-10pm on Tuesday, June 2, before a final allocation of seats will be offered to the general public at midday on Wednesday, June 3.
