The World Is Fire & Blue Shells In 'Mario Kart: Fury Road'

If you thought Luigi was ridin' dirty in Mario Kart before, you might have to rethink your definition of 'dirty', especially now that the world has been gifted a mash-up trailer for George Miller's triumphant revival flick Mad Max: Fury Road and the enduringly popular racing-game franchise.

Taking the characters of the Mushroom Kingdom and dumping them in Mad Max's mushroom-cloud kingdom instead, video creator Kris Sundberg has created a dystopian alternate reality in which the Princess is never in another castle because the Princess is too busy gunning it through the desert to escape the fiendish clutches of the devilish Immortan Bowser, or whatever. Let's not pretend that the plot is particularly meaty.

Granted, there are moments that could probably do with a little more "Mario-ification" (there are some stretches that are basically just the Fury Road trailer intact), and the fact that it isn't titled Mad Max: Rainbow Road feels like a missed opportunity (and a more accurate moniker), but overall it's still a pretty damn impressive achievement and a phenomenal demonstration of just how crazy-good home-created trailers can be.
