They believe King's closest aides poisoned him

In the advent of the death of blues legend BB King in his Las Vegas home on 14 May, his two daughters and heirs Karen Williams and Patty King have stated that they believe their father was poisoned by his two closest aides.

In affidavits presented to The Associated Press, King and Williams said, "I believe my father was poisoned and that he was administered foreign substances."

They allege that King's business manager LaVerne Toney and personal assistant Myron Johnson prevented King's family from visiting their dying father as he was taking his last breaths, but Toney has said, "They've been making allegations all along. What's new?"

Toney had power-of-attorney over King and had worked with the musician for over 39 years, and is named the executor of King's estate.

The family's lawyer, Larissa Drohobyczer, said the family are supporting each other as they "oust Ms. Toney based on her illegal conduct, conflicts of interest and self-dealing", with their belief that King's death was due to Toney "failing to properly attend to his medical needs".

The affidavit that Williams and King provided states that King saw Johnson dispensing two drops of a substance onto King's tongue on evenings for a number of months before his death, and would never divulge what the substance was.

The Las Vegas homicide unit are investigating the allegations, a mere four days after a public viewing and concert in the city drew over 1,000 fans. A procession and memorial are scheduled in the upcoming days in Memphis, Tennessee, before the late King is buried in Mississippi.
