Amy

This “uncensored” documentary on the life of Amy Winehouse from the team behind the acclaimed documentary Senna tells a compelling story. Pieced together through clips of Winehouse as she grew up into the public light, the film also contains interviews with family members, close friends and colleagues. It’s an insightful film that truly does justice to the late British singer's life.

Station To Station

This is an interesting and original film from director and visual artist Doug Aitken. Over 24 days in 2013, he travelled from New York to San Francisco via train and stopped at nine locations along the way for art exhibitions he had organised with musicians, artists, photographers and dancers. The result is 61 one-minute segments featuring the likes of Beck, Savages, Ariel Pink and more.

Seymour: An Introduction

Seymour: An Introduction follows philosophising classical pianist Seymour Bernstein, who stepped out of the spotlight rather abruptly over 30 years for a life of teaching and composing. The documentary gives an insight into why, while detailing how important Bernstein was in Hawke’s career.

Here’s what else is on offer on the Sounds On Screen program:

54: The Director's Cut

Breaking A Monster

Lambert & Stamp

Max & Lenny

Mr Dynamite: The Rise Of James Brown
