Matthew Bellamy talks new album, Drones

More Muse More Muse

English rock band Muse are set to release their latest and seventh studio album, Drones, next month.

And in an interview with NME, frontman Matthew Bellamy was candid in talking about returning to the old school way in which the trio approached making music.

"Our intention was to go back to how we made music in the early stages of our career, when we were more like a standard three-piece rock band with guitar, bass and drums."

The 36-year-old singer conceded that the group may have spent more time experimenting with music technology then sticking to the basics.

"We probably spent more time in the control room, fiddling with knobs and synths and computers and drum machines than actually playing together as a band" he admits.

"As I look back at the last three albums, each one had progressively less and less songs that we could play live."

Muse are set to hit the road next week, performing shows in America and their home country, before a month long tour in Europe.

Drones will be available from June 8.
