...yep, the chandelier is coming
Sir Elton John is bringing his knighthood and his band to Australia for an All The Hits tour in December.
The tour promises to feature "iconic hits and classic album tracks" and John's band features familiar players from the old days such as drummer Nigel Olsson (he drummed with John on his first Australian tour in 1971). Musical director Davey Johnstone will be on guitar.
"Australian audiences always seem to bring out the best in us," John claimed in a statement announcing the tour earlier today. "And I'm certain there will be many more fantastic evenings when we visit in December."
To guarantee that fantastic-ness, for the first time outside North America audiences will see the much-talked-about 12-metre wide chandelier as the centrepiece of the stage set (designed by Mark Fisher).
