Hints of more gigs around the country beforehand
Cold Chisel are set to be the last Australian act to play the Qantas Credit Union Arena, the venue formerly known as the Sydney Entertainment Centre.
The iconic venue has been host to many a major rock'n'roll tour since opening in 1983 but will stage its final shows over the weekend commencing Friday 18 December.
After the final show the venue will be demolished and replaced with a new arena near by.
Frontman Jimmy Barnes today enthused about being the band chosen as one of the venue's final acts, "Having finished our Last Stand tour there in the year the venue opened, it's great to now be playing at their Last Stand. We’re gonna tear the place to the ground."

The band plan to play two sets on the night — the first will be "a diverse mix of songs from the band's extensive catalogue and some pulled from their recent recording sessions" while the second set will be made of songs from their Last Stand shows.
The press release issued today to announce the show also included the statement: "Cold Chisel might announce other shows elsewhere in Australia earlier in 2015, but this special December 18 show… will definitely be their final gig of the year."
General public tickets go on sale at 10am Friday.
This article has been edited having initially reported that Cold Chisel will play the final night of the venue. They will be the last Australian band to play, Elton John will play the following night.
