Hawkeye From 'The Avengers' Shows His Sensitive Side With Ed Sheeran Parody

That'll do, Clint. That'll do

As readers of Matt Fraction and David Aja's excellent ongoing comic Hawkeye know, life is pretty tough for Clint Barton, better known as the titular expert marksman and member of Marvel's Avengers super-team. So tough, in fact, that he spent all but the final battle of 2012's mega-hit movie under mind-control.

In Avengers: Age Of Ultron, things are a little bit better for the eternally put-upon Barton (Jeremy Renner), as he earns more screen time and less time in the lackey box, but he's still a pretty misunderstood guy, all things considered. It's just not an easy job being one of two normal human beings in a veritable god squad. So, to help him work out his feelings, US late-night TV show The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon offered the violet violence-master a chance to let it all out with the help of a grand piano and the melody of Ed Sheeran's Thinking Out Loud.

Watch Hawkeye sing all about his "other" powers, such as his collection of "scarves and berets", playing trombone in a ska band, getting to second base with a Tinder date, and being just the best at Mario Kart, below. It's so on-point that even Sheeran himself endorsed it.

While we have plenty of love for Hawkeye, who between Fraction and Aja's comic and the glorious Hawkeye Initiative has ascended to unprecedented notoriety even in non-comics circles, Renner himself has been the subject of widespread criticism lately, with he and Age Of Ultron co-star Chris Evans recently coming under fire for referring to fellow Avenger Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) as a "slut" and a "whore" during a recent press event for the movie — comments for which the stars both went on to apologise.
