An A Capella Version Of The 'Mortal Kombat' Theme Exists, And It Is Everything

This is yet another reason precisely why the internet was made

Somewhat unbelievably, the original Mortal Kombat movie, based on the popular video game franchise of the same name about a bunch of people who love to rip out each other's spines for glory, came out 20 years ago this year.

We're not sure if that has anything to do with why the members of YouTube geek comedy outfit The Warp Zone created this video of themselves singing the theme song from the film, The Immortals' Techno Syndrome (Mortal Kombat), which has since appeared as the opening track for a few of the latter-generation games, the most recent — and, most relevant to the clip's raison d'etre — being the freshly released Mortal Kombat X.

Dressed, clockwise from the top left, like in-game ninjas Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Smoke (or possibly Noob Saibot, it's so hard to tell these days), Reptile and Rain, The Warp Zone members impressively bust out an incredibly detailed, super-on-point rendition of the 1995 theme that is ultimately one big nostalgia boost wrapped up in a next-gen blanket laced with a reminder of the endless possibilities of the internet.

Plus, there's violence. Stylised violence.

As The Nerdist notes, The Warp Zone have made a habit of this sort of thing, having also released a capella and acoustic covers of various geeky songs, from the Rainbow Road theme from Mario Kart and the theme from Darkwing Duck to the Donkey Kong Country theme, the old X-Men and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon themes, and even the theme from Captain Planet.
