The Dickies front man apologises on Facebook

The Dickies lead singer, Leonard Graves Phillips, was involved in a physical altercation with a female fan during a show in Brisbane on Friday night.

The frontman for the US punk-rock outfit is believed to have hit the fan on the head while performing at the Prince Of Wales Hotel after she refused to let go of a stage prop.

Phillips has shown remorse for the incident and took to the band's official Facebook to apologise.

"Leonard here. Our trip to Austraia — one that I and many others have looked forward to for so long was marred by an incident in Brisbane where I konked a gal on the head while pulling her hair in order to make her let go of a stupid stage prop..."

He went to say that he has since been in touch with the woman, who he called a "sweet and gracious person — unlike myself" while he condemned his actions.

"It's indefensible to strike a woman in any capacity and to compound matters I've tried to make light of it by being a rude and petulant prick" he wrote.

"I'm super depressed and saddened by all of this. Particularly my part in it."

The Australian tour manager for The Dickies has declined to comment.

The band have just wrapped up the Australian leg of their tour this month and they are scheduled to perform a slew of shows later this week in New Zealand.
