Renowned British comedian Noel Fielding will be the guest programmer for the 25 April edition of ABC's long-running, beloved music-video series rage, the station has announced.

Although Fielding lifted the veil on his involvement with the show a few days ago on his Instagram account (see below), today marks the first official announcement of his impending host spot, which the comedian recently filmed during his stint Down Under to take part in the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

With a physical aesthetic that straddles the exceedingly weird border between goth and glam, The Mighty Boosh co-creator opens up about his musical inspirations, from David Bowie and the New York Dolls to Alice Cooper and Roxy Music, as well as personal faves in the form of Detroit Grand Pubahs, The Prodigy, Gary Newman and Tubeway Army.

It promises to be an episode as eclectic as the man himself, and Aussie audiences will have two chances to see Fielding helming the rage ship — from 10.30-11.30am on Saturday, 25 April, and then again from 11.20pm that evening for the night shift, during which he'll no doubt really come into his bizarre — seriously wonderful, but bizarre — element. Tune into ABC1 to see it all go down.
