The young label is growing even further after a successful showing at SXSW

The team from ascendant local label Cooking Vinyl Australia has returned from a particularly fruitful foray in the United States for SXSW with the news that they'll be forming a new partnership with esteemed LA indie SideOneDummy Records.

With existing representation deals with the likes of Cooking Vinyl UK, Dine Alone, Razor & Tie, Resist and Thirty Tigers already under its belt — not to mention the recent launch of its own rock imprint, Double Cross — Cooking Vinyl Australia has never been in a better position to expand its ever-growing roster, which already includes local deals for acts such as Kate Miller-Heidke, Shakey Graves, You Me At Six, The Smashing Pumpkins, Lindi Ortega, Frank Iero and Modern Baseball.

"Working with good people is very important to our team; we have known and considered Joe, Bill and Thomas good friends for a long time," Cooking Vinyl Australia co-director Stu Harvey said in a statement. "They have been consistently signing and breaking new bands for almost 20 years: The Gaslight Anthem, Flogging Molly, Title Fight all owe those guys their start.

"The label's new A&R vision is clear and the new breed of bands such as Superheaven, PUP, Andrew Jackson Jihad and Jeff Rosenstock all have very bright futures ahead of them. It's really exciting to have them on board."

Added SideOneDummy general Manager Thomas Dreux: "We are very excited to be working with Stu amd Leigh at Cooking Vinyl Australia; they are long-time supporters of the label and the best representation we could ask for. They will be looking after all SideOneDummy releases in Australia and New Zealand starting with the Superheaven album coming out first week of May. We are all looking forward to a long and successful relationship!"

The aforementioned inaugural album that will herald the launching of the new deal — Superheaven's Ours Is Chrome — will hit stores on 8 May. Keep an eye out for future announcements on consequent releases.
