Second Chance Sunday: The Stories You Might Have Missed This Week

29 March 2015 | 11:07 am | Staff Writer

Our new weekly wrap of some of the best news that might have escaped your attention over the past seven days

Hey, we get it — life is busy, man, and the internet is a big ol' mess of constant information streams being flung at you like so many data-borne clumps of chimp shit (and that's not even including the videos involving literal clumps of chimp shit).

Then, of course, there's been the rise of FOMO — the fear of missing out — which has only become a real condition since humanity decided to fuel everyone's collective jealousy by turning social media into a platform to peacock about our lives and make our peers feel worse about theirs.

So, amid the giant primate piles of data shooting through the web this week, we understand if you might have missed some stuff from our little corner of the world. But, because we're considerate people and don't want you succumbing to the mad throes of worrying about it, we've compiled some of (what we think is) the most interesting stuff that might have passed you by…

All hail Psycroptic, who made our week when they became the catalyst for being able to refer to technical death metal in a charts wrap. Also, good news for Safia, AstaJericco, George MapleJarryd James and more.

Everybody's favourite '90s sci-fi/horror/thriller/conspiracy series The X-Files will return for six new episodes in 2016, and original series stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will be back along with it. Believe.

The acclaimed rappers and SXSW heroes team up with the former frontman of Rage Against The Machine to deliver a harrowing new clip about police brutality in the United States. It's brutal, but you simply can't — or, at least, shouldn't — turn away.
