New albums out from Courtney Barnett, Alison Wonderland and more

Courtney Barnett – Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit (Milk Records/Remote Control)

The highly anticipated LP from Barnett follows the release of two EPs. The Melburnian singer-songwriter delivers catchy, upbeat tunes and “all that sitting and thinking has paid handsome dividends,” according to The Music's Steve Bell.

Alison Wonderland – Run (EMI)

“An undeniable youthfulness drips from every beat, every note and every lyric that falls from the record”, according to The Music’s Dylan Stewart. This Sydney-based DJ, producer and now singer, gives us a little more taste the electro world of Wonderland on her debut.

Laura Marling – Short Movie (Virgin/Caroline)

This folk-singing UK sweetheart has emerged with a slightly different sound on her new album. According to The Music’s reviewer Ross Clelland, the LP gives you this “feeling this is a transition piece, for soul that remains unsettled, still searching.”

Super Best Friends Status Updates (Gun Fever)

The Melbourne band make frustrated social commentaries on Status Updates, covering everything from douchebags to social media opinions. "Barrington screams like a bogan-baby hungry for it's first can of VB..." observed reviewer Mac McNaughton.
