Stand-up comedian and triple j breakfast presenter Matt Okine is probably lamenting inadvertently talking up his own comedic talents in an on-air interview with Chris Rock this week after being forced to watch as the veteran stand-up listened to a recording of one of his jokes, resulting in so much cringing.

With Rock in the triple j studio as a guest presenter, co-breakfast host Alex Dyson commented during their chat — which traversed subjects from Rock's new film, Top Five, to his worst one, Beverly Hills Ninja, and beyond — that Okine also spends a bit of time on the stand-up comedy scene, at which point Rock asks, "Oh, are you any good?"

"I play basketball but, when I see Jordan, I don't say I can play," he laughed.

It gets more cringeworthy from there, though; after hearing some of Okine's stand-up by way of an all-too-complicit Dyson, Rock offered his appraisal of the performance:

"...It's cute... it's a lovely... vacuum cleaner..." he said, referencing the topic of Okine's joke. "You are from the streets."

It all ends up OK in the end, though, with Rock giving Okine an encouraging finger-point and telling him, "You've got a future." So, y'know. Happy ending.

But, hey, if you're a fan of schadenfreude and feeling uncomfortable, then we can't recommend this video highly enough.
