The hip hop trio continue their run with Future Music Festival this week

More Hilltop Hoods More Hilltop Hoods

There's no denying that acclaimed Aussie hip hop trio the Hilltop Hoods have had a remarkable past 12 months as their 2014 seventh LP Walking Under Stars racked up mountains of praise on the back of strong singles such as Cosby SweaterWon't Let You Down and The Art Of The Handshake.

The three-piece is not quite ready to move on, though, with yet another quality cut up their Cosby-patterned sleeves in the form of Live & Let Go and its brand new accompanying clip. The track features guest work from esteemed international contemporaries Maverick Sabre (UK) and Brother Ali (US), with its lyrics floating around steady beats and ethereal piano loops, as the clip's central character is paid a visit by a mysterious, elegant, elderly woman, who invites the young hero back to her mansion so she can join a small, random assortment of other people in wrecking the hell out of her mansion with hammers and baseball bats and the kind of unrestrained joy that most people lose by the time they hit adolescence.

There's also some intermittent framing references to an apparently unfulfilling job and similarly bleak relationship - a fight with her partner is what puts the protagonist on the street to be found by the wealthy good Samaritan - but let's not focus on the negatives — instead, simply check out the clip below to see a bunch of smiling strangers lay waste to ancient opulence and make what you will of its deeper meaning.

Even now, it's unsurprising that Walking Under Stars still has fuel in its tank - Cosby Sweater has gone Triple Platinum since its release (and also took out #3 on this year's triple j Hottest 100), while the LP has spent 19 weeks inside the ARIA Top 10, including a peak of #1, all of which has led to the outfit's seventh studio full-length edging up to Double Platinum itself.
