Ironically, the result is kind of unsurprising

More Drake More Drake

Future Music Festival headliner Drake is the talk of the town this week after unexpectedly dropping new album — mixtape, whatever you want to call it — If You're Reading This It's Too Late, and it appears that the shock-and-awe strategy has paid off, with the album making its debut on this week's ARIA Album Charts at #2.

It's a strong entry for the Nothing Was The Same scribe, though not quite strong enough to muscle out incumbent top placeholder the Fifty Shades Of Grey soundtrack. Drake's entry knocks pop darling Taylor Swift's 1989 down a rung to #3, while alt rockers Imagine Dragons step out inside the top five with Smoke & Mirrors, which nabs #4 for the week. The pointy end is rounded out by multiple Grammy winner Sam Smith, whose In The Lonely Hour drops two places to #5 this week.

Other full-length debuts come much further down the list — Ne-Yo's Non Fiction and Travis CollinsWired pick up #25 and #26 respectively, before The Robertson BrothersCelebrating The Hits Of The Everly Brothers marks the next newcomer, down at #54 — though there are some decent movers: George Ezra sees Wanted On Voyage lift five spots to #9, Angus & Julia Stone's self-titled LP leaps 26 places back to #13, Foo FightersSonic Highways is on the move, up seven spots to #19, Maroon 5's V is up to #24 from #33, and old mate Vance Joy moves back inside the top 30, with Dream Your Life Away up seven places to #27.

The Singles Chart is a slightly less tumultuous scene, with Florence & The Machine making the highest new dent at #16 with What Kind Of Man, though the effort can't quite stop resurgent tracks such as The Weeknd's Earned It, which rises from the cusp of the top 30 back up to a strong #13, or Maroon 5's Sugar, which vacates The Weeknd's new spot to move up to #7.

There are slightly lower-end (but still top-half) entries for David Guetta and Jessica Mauboy — their respective singles What I Did For Love, featuring Emeli Sande, and The Day Before I Met You make their debut at #37 and #41 — while successful export Iggy Azalea's new cut Trouble doesn't carry Fancy's weight; she makes her newest debut at #75, just ahead of week-high performer Drake, who nabs a second spot for Energy at #77.

The top five, however, remain unshakeable, if not unmoveable — Ellie Goulding's Love Me Like You Do tops the list this week, up from #4; Kanye WestRihanna and Paul McCartney collab FourFiveSeconds takes a slide to #2; Felix Jaehn's remix of Omi's Cheerleader stays strong at #3; Mark Ronson & Bruno MarsUptown Funk drops two spots to #4; and Hozier's Take Me To Church remains at #5.
