Megan Washington & Client Liaison Gather Eurovision Support

If everyone else who wants to do it puts their hand up, we could have our own Eurovision Hunger Games

Lauded singer-songwriter Megan Washington and synth-pop luminaries Client Liaison have both (sort of) thrown their names into the hat as potential representatives for Australia at this year's Eurovision Song Contest after it was announced last week that the country had been granted a once-off admission to compete in the annual competition for its 60th anniversary.

To be totally fair, Washington's "bid" was pretty blink-and-miss-it — The Daily Mail went full The Daily Mail and said she'd launched "a one-woman campaign" to be a part of Eurovision off the back of an Instagram photo of her singing that was captioned "JUST LET ME DO EUROVISION OK", while she made a similar post on Facebook and Twitter referencing the competition — but her followers and fans nonetheless jumped immediately onboard, offering up earnestly supportive responses and coining (kind of clunky) hashtags for the inevitable movement such as #voteforwashingtoneurovision, #megan4eurovision and #megs4euro2015 (may we humbly suggest #washovision?).

Meanwhile, Client Liaison were equally brief in starting their campaign, telling their followers simply to "VOTE 1", coming already armed with hashtag in tow: #clientliaison4eurovision. Somewhat unsurprisingly, they were met with a similar level of enthusiasm from their fans, with one sagely commenting, "If TISM can't make it, you have my blessing."

Of course, we shouldn't expect too warm a reception when our mystery representative finally does arrive on the grand stage of Eurovision — it's not like anybody wants us there to begin with.
