The new creative hub will come rocketing into the scene on 6 March

Eagerly awaited new Brisbane collaborative venture and creative hub The Foundry is getting closer and closer to making its mark on the south-east Queensland live scene, and it's shoring up the final details starting with the news that beloved locals Velociraptor, as well as SPOD and White Lodge, will be the inaugural acts to grace its stage.

As previously reported by theMusic.com.au, the venue's manager is Velociraptor member Corey Herekihua, making the band's headline appearance for the venue's first official gig something pretty darn special indeed, though the presence of personalities such as Trainspotting's Patrick Balfe, building manager Brett Gibson and the tireless behind-the-scenes efforts and patronage of organisations such as Mucho Bravado, 4ZZZ, Jungle Love Festival and more will ensure that — as demonstrated by the inclusion of SPOD and White Lodge on the launch bill — a diverse array of entertainment is always on the cards.

The Foundry will officially launch on Friday, 6 Mar, with doors opening at 8pm and tickets costing a meagre $20 at pre-sale or $25 on the door.

Beyond the initial gig, The Foundry has already lined up a number of gigs to help keep its first month of life pumping along, including Harts' single launch on 13 March, Hound's single launch the following evening — both shows will feature special guests — Babaganouj's single launch alongside FlowertruckStatler and Waldorf on 20 March, Day Ravies' 7" launch with Per Purpose and 100%, and Rolls Bayce with The Walking Who and The Bacchanales on 27 March.
