Overseas commitments force the decision
Indie-pop chart-toppers Sheppard have confirmed they will no longer be appearing at Bluesfest this April.
A statement released by Chugg Entertainment earlier today revealed that the band have had to cancel the appearance due to further commitments overseas in the US and Europe, including more television appearances arising.
Bluesfest Festival Director, Peter Noble, said "Sheppard’s manager, Michael Chugg, called me and explained the situation of how things are taking off for the band in Europe and the USA, and they have booked a number of big TV appearances supporting the album. I want to do anything I can to promote young bands on their way to the top, so we have agreed to let them continue their European promotional run, and hope to see them back again in future years."
The band also released a statement on the news, saying they hoped they would be able to perform on home soil again soon.

"It is with great disappointment that recent scheduling conflicts have forced us to withdraw from the lineup of this year’s Byron Bay Bluesfest. It is one of the best festivals anywhere in the world and we are sorry that we won’t be back in Australia sooner to play for our wonderful home country fans. We hope that you all really enjoy the festival and we will see you again soon!"
The Brisbane six-piece are gearing up to release their debut album, Bombs Away, in the States next month and just this week appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, which in turn has led to their highest Billboard Hot 100 position to date.
