Mag will drop in February
A special South Australia edition of The Music print magazine will be released next month as the masthead launches into its fifth state.
The Music, the sister print publication to theMusic.com.au, currently has weekly magazines in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth and will release an Adelaide edition Thursday 12 February. Around the country the magazine interviews and reviews local artists and events, festivals, as well as keeping abreast in the latest film, comedy, theatre, food, drink and culture trends.
The move into South Australia comes as Adelaide’s music community has fortified itself, and events such as WOMADelaide, where The Music will present the Electrolounge stage, are on the horizon. In the past six months theMusic.com.au has also ramped up live reviews from Adelaide (see here, here, here and more) and partnered with Fowlers Live for their annual live music awards.
“Judging by the number of South Australians that log onto theMusic.com.au we know there’s a huge appetite for the content we produce,” said The Music’s Managing Director Craig Treweek. “Hopefully this is the first of many special editions in the burgeoning Adelaide market.”

2015 is shaping up as a huge year – musically – for the state with events like Adelaide Fringe, Garden Of Unearthly Delights, Adelaide Festival and the local stops of Groovin The Moo, Future Music Festival and St Jerome’s Laneway Festival. There’s also a swag of Bluesfest sideshows from the likes of Jurassic 5 and Donavon Frankenreiter.
On top of a strong event circuit, South Australian talent has been at the forefront of the national scene recently. Artists such as Bad//Dreems, Tkay Maizda and Timberwolf have all sparked label battles and have proven crowd favourites at showcases around the country. At a local level, liquor license changes made two years ago have seen an influx of local venues.
With the magazine hitting the street Thursday 12 February, the booking deadline is Wednesday 4 February. All advertising and marketing enquiries should be made to (03) 9421 4499 and sales@themusic.com.au. Editorial enquiries should be directed to daniel@themusic.com.au.
