The live music hub is undergoing a major overhaul
Sydney venue The Basement has announced it will be re-launching next month as the live music hub undergoes a major refurbishment.
The Circular Quay-based venue will officially re-launch on Wed 25 Feb after the completion of its downstairs area refurb, which will include a new stage and green room. The upstairs alterations have already been made and once the total refurb is done, the venue will also feature more options for dining, drinks and events.
"With The Basement, we strive to capture the attention of each guest and performer by combining an amazing live music ambience and an unsurpassed dining experience; combined with a tranquil welcoming vibe and creative design," said venue co-owner Dominique Robinson.
The Basement opened in 1972 and has grown to be one of the city's premier intimate venues, hosting artists from around the country and the world, across all genres.

This is a trend that fellow co-owner David Wallace said the venue hoped to continue and grow with the changes.
"We are renowned for having a culture of promoting both classic well known artists as well as up-and-coming talent. We hope to further build on that and offer our guests a wide array of exclusive events and spontaneous epic evenings," he said.
Booker for The Basement, Nathan Farrell told theMusic.com.au today that there are plans to expand the type of events that take place at the venue, with a focus on other entertainment options and larger-scaled tours.
"We are planning to extend our offering dabbling, in some Comedy, Burlesque and some handcrafted nights, with our larger stage it should allow us extra scope to accommodate a variety of larger touring acts as well larger ensembles and performances," Farrell said.
"We hope the improved production and renovations with the already solid reputation of the venue will enable us to program some truly unique events, host some of the worlds greatest artists and help create some truly memorable experiences."
Artists who have perform at the venue recently include Ben Watt, Thirsty Merc, Urthboy and Willow Beats. Upcoming performances will come from Ratking, The Necks, Tony Joe White, Bombino and more. The venue has confirmed to theMusic.com.au that upcoming shows will not be affected by the refurbishment.
