Top 100s of 2014 released
Brisbane’s Sheppard and iconic Aussie rock act INXS have had the highest selling Australian single and album respectively in ARIA’s end of year charts for 2014.
A ranking of the top 100 singles and albums of the year, Pharrell Williams’ Happy was the top selling song ahead of Meghan Trainor’s All About That Bass and Taylor Swift’s Shake It Off.
Sheppard’s Geronimo – released independently through Chugg Music/MGM – was the fourth highest single, ahead of Justice Crew’s Que Sera, which was fifth. Both are certified platinum five times over having surpassed 350,000 units.
In the album chart Ed Sheeran’s four-times-platinum X was the top album ahead of Swift’s 1989 and the soundtrack to Frozen. Fuelled by the popular mini-series Never Tear Us Apart, INXS’s The Very Best was the fourth highest selling album of 2014 and the top local release.

Hilltop Hoods’ Walking Under Stars was the next highest local album, coming in at nine.
In total 18 of the top 100 singles came from Australian artists (five more than last year), while 36 of the top 100 albums were local (nine more).
