An epic trip down memory lane

It’s been 40 years since beloved Aus radio station triple j first launched in Sydney in 1975 as 2JJ, so it’s fitting the anniversary is met with a wealth of history.

For many, the station is their portal to the latest in what’s new and the soundtrack to their daily lives, and the national network is rolling out a documentary, exhibition and series of special broadcasts to celebrate four decades and look back the ride so far.

Documentary Sounds Like Teen Spirit kicks things off on Monday 19 January on ABC and takes a look at the station from its beginnings, featuring interviews with Myf Warhurst, Hilltop Hoods, Peter Garrett and a wealth of more talent, as well as Jen Oldershaw's disastrous interview with Nirvana.

Beat The Drum Exhibition opens the same day at the ABC Ultimo Foyer and will display history from triple j and Double J, all through photos, artwork, articles, videos, audio, and memorabilia, open from 7am-7pm that week.
