The renowned post-hardcore quintet are reconvening... somehow
Once heralded as the saviours of post-hardcore (back in, like, 2005), Irvine, California's Thrice ceased activity in 2012 after more than a decade of slogging it out on stages around the world — but fans may now have their first indication that all is not over for the celebrated outfit just yet.
As found on the band's official website, a new photo has been posted — the first new content in nearly a month — pointing to a reformation of sorts in the new year.
Given the total lack of follow-up posts on any of the band's other social media accounts, it's not yet entirely clear to what capacity Thrice will be reconvening - reunion shows or something beyond - but if frontman Dustin Kensrue's Reddit AMA in March this year is to be believed, a tour is "very very likely", while "recording of some kind: I hope so and suspect yes".

Thrice formed in 1999, self-releasing debut EP First Impressions before dropping their first full-length, Identity Crisis, in 2000. The first few years of the decade were good to Thrice, with their sophomore effort The Illusion Of Safety (2002) laying the first groundwork for their later breakthrough with Island Records debut and third full-length The Artist In The Ambulance (2003). In 2005, they released the acclaimed Vheissu before the way down saw them put out the two-part Alchemy Index (2007-2008), the warmly received Beggars (2009), and final effort Major/Minor in 2011 in the lead-up to calling it a breather in 2012.
Keep your eyes peeled for future updates as we get a better idea of just what the reawakening juggernauts are cooking up for 2015.
