The annual festival is heading back to its "original and still the best" home
Soundwave Festival promoter AJ Maddah has probably made a fair few punters' days today with the surprise announcement that the Melbourne leg of the renowned heavy-rock festival will be returning to its traditional home at the Melbourne Showgrounds.
Maddah made the announcement on Twitter today, taking the time to thank organisers at temporary grounds Flemington Racecourse for their efforts in staging the festival over the past two years. However, the move "home" is not without its downside (despite the several obvious boons) — as a result of heading back to the Showgrounds, Soundwave Melbourne will have a reduced capacity, heightening the limitations on the already- dwinding supplies of weekend tickets, Maddah said.
ANNOUNCEMENT: I am monumentally pleased to announce that #SW15 is back to its original and still the best home RAS Melbourne Showgrounds :)

I'd like to thank our friends at Flemington for hosting the last 2 years and their effort to make the venue available against heavy odds.

The downside of this happy news is that our capacity is now rather limited & we're almost out of weekend tickets...:( #SW15 #Melbourne

As well, existing ticket-holders can rest assured that their passes remain valid, and that all other aspects of the planned Melbourne shows, held from February 21-22 next year, will stay as they are.

Needless to say, all tickets remain valid for Showgrounds and all other show details are the same. #SW15 #Melbourne
