The venerated rockers will be lifting the veil on all things AC/DC, and band life after Malcolm

More AC/DC More AC/DC

Legendary Aussie rock outfit AC/DC have been in the headlines a fair bit of late, but despite the release of their hard-hitting new album Rock Or Bust, it's not been for the most musical of reasons, with the long-serving band instead seeing press for everything from health woes to court sagas.

Perhaps the issue to which fans have been gluing themselves most attentively is that surrounding the ailing health of founding member Malcolm Young, who was forced to retire from the band earlier this year after a diagnosis with dementia was made public. And it is that development — and its effect not only on Young himself but brother and band member Angus, as well as compatriots Brian Johnson and, to a lesser extent (now), Phil Rudd — that forms the crux of ABC's 7.30 report on the band as network North American Correspondent Ben Knight speaks face to face with Angus Young and Brian Johnson for the first time since the fundamental shake-up.

"Malcolm was always very organised," brother Angus says in the interview. "And it was kind of strange for the first time to see him disorganised, being confused about a lot of things. That's when it kind of hit me — there's something not right with him."

"He said, 'Keep making music'. Without any of that sympathy stuff, you know? … So we did, and it was great," frontman Johnson adds.
