Virgin Australia have responded to claims made today by local hip hip group Thundamentals that the airline didn't "take care" of the group's luggage.

The NSW-based hip hop troupe posted the video earlier on their Facebook, showing a baggage handler loading the rap crew's luggage on the airplane conveyor belt, captioned with the post: "Apologies if our equipment doesn't work for our gig tonight, doesn't seem like @virginaustralia take care when reading the "fragile" label on our instruments."

In a statement released to theMusic.com.au, Virgin apologised for mishandling of Thundamentals' luggage and said they were investigating the matter.

"We sincerely apologise to the Thundamentals for the mishandling of their luggage. Virgin Australia always endeavours to take care of our guests’ luggage and are investigating this particular incident.

"Virgin Australia is proud to support Australian musicians with a range of initiatives which includes the provision of an excess baggage allowance."

When speaking to theMusic.com.au, Virgin confirmed that they had been in contact with Thundamentals' management over the incident. They as yet had not commented whether the equipment was being assessed for damage and if so, whether the band would be compensated.

The group are performing in Coffs Harbour tonight as part of the Hilltop Hoods national tour.
