The venue may be forced to move or close
Popular Adelaide live music venue Fowler’s Live is fighting to keep its doors open, with the State Government pushing to take over their lease to house the State Theatre Company.
As reported on Rip It Up, the State Theatre Company’s current lease at Adelaide Railway Station expires in April 2015, and earlier this month they revealed the potential move to Fowler’s Live West End precinct.
Hosting a wealth of international and national tours weekly, Fowler’s Live owner and operator Peter Darwin said at last week’s Fowler’s Live Music Awards the venue had been granted a further six months past their April expiry date, but plans after that were uncertain.
Since then, Darwin has confirmed to theMusic.com.au that the Fowler's Live lease is current until December 31, 2015, and "we will trade up to and including that date without question".

State Theatre’s performance, rehearsal and construction areas would remain at the Adelaide Festival Centre, but administrative staff would relocate to the Lion Arts building Fowler’s Live consumes, and they hope to set up a small-scale performance space there.
Darwin today told theMusic.com.au that he would be releasing a statement regarding the matter in the coming weeks.
