Founding member of seminal pop-punk trio Blink-182 and ambitious rockers Angels & Airwaves, Tom DeLonge, has expanded his award-winning horizons to include the medium of cinema, with the veteran guitarist picking up a joint win at this year's Toronto International Short Film Festival.

DeLonge was one of three directors, along with Portuguese twins Sergio and Edgar Martins, who helmed Poet Anderson: The Dream Walker, which was named Best Animation at this year's award ceremony, recently held in Canada's most populous city from November 12-14.

Poet Anderson is an accompanying film for Angels & Airwaves' forthcoming fifth studio full-length, the also-named The Dream Walker, which is set for international release on December 9. But the plans for the band's latest multimedia release - which is something of a modus operandi for them by now - don't just stop with the album and award-winning short.

"On December 9th, the Dream Walker album will debut," DeLonge wrote in a Facebook post about the win, in which he gave thanks to the Martins brothers as well as writer Ben Kull. "I appreciate all of those who have gone to AngelsAndAirwaves.com and purchased the limited edition items associated with this project.

"It is supporting a lot of great artists involved in this project. This is only the beginning for Poet... Next the novel, and then... The feature film."

We'd imagine that the fresh validation from the award ceremony's judging panel has done little to sway DeLonge's grand vision, so introduce yourself to the titular Poet with the trailer below, and get ready to see a whole lot more of the scruffy-haired, dream-dwelling protagonist in the near future.
