Plus your Unearthed Artist Of The Year, Music Video Of The Year, and inaugural Double J Australian Artist Of The Year
Electronic wizard Chet Faker has nabbed the coveted prize of Australian Album Of The Year at this year's J Awards for his acclaimed full-length Built On Glass.
The honour sees Faker join the ranks of previous victors such as two-time winners Tame Impala (2010, 2012), Gotye (2011) and Flume (2013), and, according to triple j Music Director Richard Kingsmill, the Talk Is Cheap hitmaker was all but a shoo-in for the title.
"Faker steers a course through each track that manages to keep to the left, avoiding any bland cliches," Kingsmill said in a statement. "It's an album rich in emotion and textures, with the sounds and arrangements keeping the songs pure and uncluttered. Built On Glass will stand the test of time simply because the songs are so good, too."
In receiving the award (via video message), a humble Faker said: "Thank you so much for the J Award for Album Of The Year. I still remember a few years ago first hearing my song on triple j and freaking out then, so it's a great honour. Thanks for the love and support back home from the best radio station in Australia."

Held at the renowned Howler, in Melbourne, the tenth annual prize ceremony — an initiative of triple j, Double J and triple j Unearthed — also saw honours bestowed upon ascendant songstress Meg Mac, who took out the title of Unearthed Artist Of The Year, inaugural winner of Double J's Australian Artist Of The Year award Mia Dyson, and Sia, whose ubiqutious Chandelier earned the prestige of being accompanied by the Australian Music Video Of The Year.
