Has Northlane's New Vocalist Given Himself Away?

The Sydney post-hardcore act are playing it close to the chest, but an Instagram post may have pre-empted the surprise

More Northlane More Northlane

The frontman of Sydney-based rockers Sound Of Seasons, Marcus Bridge, may have outed himself as the new vocalist for post-hardcore mainstays Northlane in an Instagram post, following an audition process in the wake of the departure of previous frontman Adrian Fitipaldes.

Speculation over Bridge's inclusion in the band's line-up started to bubble away after the experienced singer posted an Instagram photo appearing to show a distinctly coloured guitar that looks awfully similar to one seen in another pic posted by band member Josh Smith (which, oh, just happens to feature Bridge), leading many fans to join the dots and make the call themselves.

Although Northlane, who are currently working on Rot (their first single with the officially unnamed new recruit), have remained tight-lipped about the fresh vocalist, they nonetheless took to Facebook this morning (AEST) in an effort to quell some of the rumours and conjecture over their new member's identity.

"Hey everyone, While we have been working as hard as we can on Rot, we’ve noticed there’s a fair bit of conjecture flying around the internet about who our new vocalist is, and a few other topics surrounding this. We have a few things to say," the band wrote on their wall, before addressing some specific concerns from their fans.

"1 — The vocalist we chose was not picked prior to public auditions ... 2 — We won’t announce who he is until Rot is released on November 21 ... 3 — He’s not going to ruin what you love about Northlane ... 4 — Our message, and what we are about has not changed."

"We are all extremely excited about what the future holds, we will continue to progress and evolve like we always have. Can’t wait for you all to hear Rot and Northlane 2.0."

In a response to a question regarding the new vocalist's abilities — specifically, in a comment thread about Marcus Bridge — the band said, "We said he was more than capable of handling the back catalogue, ie. he can scream. And he's pretty good at it too," — which some fans have taken as a backhanded confirmation of its own. Still, don't expect anything more concrete than that out of the band for the next three weeks.

What do you think? Is Marcus Bridge the man we'll see stepping out front of the instrumentalists of Northlane come November 21?

Have a watch of his audition video, below, and see, if he is indeed the new man on the mic, whether you think they've made the right call.
