The US-based Aussie expats will continue undeterred

Long-serving Aussie-expat hard rockers Sick Puppies have announced that they have split with their frontman, Shimon Moore, after a 17-year stint with the band.

Breaking the news on Facebook this morning, the band cushioned the blow of Moore's departure by explaining they are "undergoing some exciting changes and evolving", allaying any potential concern that the singer's exodus might throw a fatal spanner in the Sick Puppies works.

"Former member Shimon Moore is no longer with the band and is pursuing other endeavors," remaining members Emma Anzai and Mark Goodwin wrote. "We are currently in the studio writing material for our upcoming studio album while auditioning new singers.

"As always, there is nothing we enjoy more than creating and performing music for our fans. Our passion and determination to create and share our music is stronger than ever. We cannot wait for Sick Puppies' next chapter to unfold and for you all to be a part of it."

Moore formed Sick Puppies with Anzai and then-drummer Chris Mileski in 1997 (Goodwin replaced him in 2003). They've released six EPs and four studio full-lengths to date — Welcome To The Real World (2001), Dressed Up As Life (2007 — their first album crafted in the US), Tri-Polar (2009) and Connect (2013) — and relocated to the States several years ago, partially on the encouragement of renowned rock photographer and filmmaker Robert Knight, whose Rock Prophecies documentary featured the band as they newly made their way in America.
