Violent Femmes, Bertie Blackman and The Cat Empire lead the bill
The iconic Woodfork Folk Festival has unleashed its first artist announcement, featuring a diverse mix of acts, including music from the likes of Violent Femmes, Bertie Blackman, The Cat Empire and a slew of other activities on offer.
Celebrating 29 years, the massive gathering goes down from 27 December - 1 January at Woodfordia on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, about an hour north of Brisbane. Over 400 acts will consume 35 venues over the six day and night endeavor.

Woodford’s Talks programme also returns, which will see respected filmmakers, politicians, authors and more in thought-provoking conversation, exchanging ideas from global socio-political matters to science to the inner workings of our cognitive selves

Festival veteran and former PM Bob Hawke, author and SBS political correspondent Karen Middleton, comedian Catherine Deveny, documentary maker Josh Fox, and Red Dwarf actor Robert Llewellyn are all set to participate in the conversation, with Woodford’s ongoing Music In Policies series featuring L-Fresh the Lion, Pataphysics, Sistagurl, and The Greenhouse venue set up as a hub for the exploration of environmental, economic and socio-political dialogue.
Other dreamers, makers, line-pushers Rhoda Roberts, Sean Choolburra, Richard Fidler, Juice Rap News, Nigel Brennan, Tim Cope, Tenzin Choegyal, Professor Ian Lowe, Rod Quantock, Fiona Scott Norman, Anna Rose, and Simon Sheikh will be participating in various conversations.
